Helping education nonprofits and funders grow their impact
My Services
Clients typically hire me to help in these areas:

-
Develop strategy. I help nonprofits, foundations, and schools tune their strategies. I ask and help answer fundamental questions about the best way your organization can achieve its goals. I arrange productive and invigorating conversations among stakeholders. And I help build financial models that align with program goals.
-
Launch new programs. Have an idea for a new program or initiative but don’t yet have the people you need to get it done? I deploy the full range of my program development, fundraising, business development, and operational skills to bring your ideas to life. I do whatever needs to be done to launch the initiative and lay the foundation for success.
-
Raise funds. I help you raise more money faster. I prospect for new funders, learn what motivates or interests them, broker relationships, help develop programs that interest funders, prepare you to make pitches, write grant proposals, and help close deals. I have relationships with more than a dozen foundations that invest in K-12 education.
-
Conduct due-diligence. I help funders understand and vet potential grantees. Having worked on the nonprofit side for two decades, I know what questions to ask and how to gather important information that nonprofits may not voluntarily provide. I also help funders develop sensible and balanced approaches to evaluation.
-
Write and research. I help school, nonprofit, and foundation leaders write articles, essays. reports, and books. I help you think through what you want to say and gather background research. Once a draft is produced – I can help with that – I edit mercilessly to ensure that you are communicating clearly and crisply.
